Lumia OS v3

I recall using Windows 98 at my school and have used Microsoft Windows for the past 16 years on a PC. I remember playing countless video games on Windows 98, XP, and 7 including Prince of Persia, MK4, Aladdin, Virtua Cop 2, Doom, Age of Empires, Counter-Strike, and Call of Duty. I never paid attention to the user interface, but as I grew older, I started to take notice of things. Over the years, I used Linux and a few other operating systems, but Windows OS has always been my favourite. The sleek user interface of Lumia phones drove me even crazier about Windows. When Mr Bill Gates founded the Microsoft corporation, I hadn’t even been born yet. This OS revolutionized my life and the lives and jobs of billions of people. Some people believe that MacOS is superior to Windows, but after seeing the most recent version of Windows 11, I don’t believe them. Additionally, Windows OS is far more affordable than MacOS and other Apple OS, making it “Easy to use” for everyone.

This operating system and I have so many moments and memories together.

The next-generation OS designed by Windows OS keeps things a lot simpler. Deep empathy, a devotion to putting people’s needs first, and an understanding of how technology can support and offer were the cornerstones upon which Windows 11 Design was built.

Similar to how My Lumia OS began with Windows 10 design This Lumia OS 3 design has taken quality time for me. Based on the UI of Windows 11, the Lumia OS design is simple, enjoyable, and contemporary. I wanted to create something fresh and distinctive from what other contemporary designers are creating. This is how the initial Lumia OS concept first emerged in my head in March 2021. I began designing using Windows 10 design concepts. While I was working on this, Windows 11 was released to the public. I restarted my design process and produced version 2 in the end. When I keep my eyes open and notice my creations, I work to improve them continually. At Lumia OS v3, that is how I am right now. I certainly hope you guys enjoy it.

Start-up & lock screen:

Startup animation
The loading animation for Lumia OS was inspired by Windows 8 and 10. When it becomes invisible, it looks cool. The Windows logo is an adaptation of the original Windows 11 logo. When you get to the lock screen, you’ll notice a large fingerprint reader and notification tabs, which I’ve always wanted. Because of the transparent tab background, they appear more appealing.

Home screen, Quick toggles & notification panel:

I’ve used the dock in the background of Quickly accessible apps on the Home screen. To access the quick toggles, simply swipe up anywhere from the bottom, and to access the notification, swipe down anywhere from the bottom panel. To quickly access these two panels, swipe right-left on the bottom coloured dash button. The majority of the system icons are based on Windows 10 and Fluent icons. On the notification panel, in the top right corner, there is a small settings icon that allows you to manage notifications, such as prioritising (important) notifications and opening all notifications.
Quick toggles and notification panels provide a clean and modern interface experience similar to that of Windows 11.

Launcher Drawer:

Most launchers are the same nowadays, and this one is no exception, but it includes a Bing search option that can be replaced with Duck Duck Go or Google. Sorting options include Sort by name, Most used, Size (to understand storage space used by the app), and Custom. A custom option formed for when you have a lot of apps installed on your phone (50–60 apps in the app drawer) and most of the time I get lost finding them, sometimes I can’t even see when they are in front of a screen. I feel blind and confused even though I am not, but I need to fix that problem, so I decided to keep it this way because it allows me to easily find my app in the Alphabet group, which sounds cool to me.

System Settings and system alert:

The setting option is very similar to Windows 11 Design, but the system alerts are not. It looks great on Lumia OS.

Phone & Call:

I keep the design for the Phone app as simple and clean as the rest of the design so that every useful feature is easy to find. The call screen, in my opinion, is the most appealing aspect of this OS. This transparent call icon’s background and the tagline: (CEO at Microsoft) is pretty to my eyes. I didn’t include the call recording option at first, but I later added an option icon to manage a few call settings and call recordings.

Messages:

The Messages app has a special option for tracking and managing your financial transactions, and you can easily categorise personal and promotional messages. Lumia OS does support the theming option as well as the transparent app option; more on this later in the blog.

Microsoft Store x Play store:

The design is based on the Play Store, but it is also unique. You do not need to open each app to download. You can download the app from the main screen with a single tap. It also has a unique tab design.

Music Player:

The music app is also part of Microsoft Windows’ new design system. The transparent colour of the background here changes with the album cover.

File Explorer:

It’s a very clean and appealing design, with all of the fluent Windows icons. You can connect your cloud storage to a file manager to quickly access your online storage data without installing any 3rd party storage app. It includes built-in cleaning and Windows security to keep your phone safe from viruses and other internet security threats. It has a Nearby share feature that allows you to share any type of file, including apps.

Themes:

Every system app is themed with a colouring system, and they look stunning. The theming part also includes a transparent mode to improve the appearance, but you can also use a standard background colour.

Widgets:

*Of course, it has a digital and analogue clock. *Quick contacts: which allow you to call your favourite person with a single tap from the home screen and send a message with a double tap.
*Quick capture: allows you to take pictures without opening a camera app and record videos in the same way. You can also open a video recording screen while recording a video. (Isn’t it amazing?)
*Music player: on the home screen, you can quickly control your music.
*Memories: You can see your old captured photos from the same day, as well as photos from local storage and OneDrive.

That’s all for now, guys. I hope you enjoyed my design project. Thank you for taking the time to read this article. Have a wonderful day :)
